After-Fracture Rehabilitation

Recovering from a fracture involves more than just waiting for the bone to heal—it’s also about regaining strength, mobility, and function in the affected area. Physical therapy plays a critical role in the rehabilitation process once a fracture has stabilized or the cast has been removed. A physical therapist will assess any stiffness, weakness, or movement limitations and create a personalized treatment plan to help restore full function safely and efficiently.

PT may include gentle stretching to improve flexibility, strengthening exercises to rebuild muscle support around the injured area, and balance or coordination training if needed. Therapists also address any compensatory movement patterns that may have developed during the healing phase. Through guided, progressive therapy, patients can return to their normal daily activities, work, or sport with confidence—often faster and with better long-term results than with rest alone.
